How much of my donation actually goes to those in need?

Answered By Aine Churches, Editor

The amount of your donation that actually goes to those in need depends on the charitable institutions you have worked with. As much as possible, most of the monetary donations should be given to those who need most, and the rest of the amount should be spend on administrative expenses of the charity. In Washington, for instance, there were 110 registered charities, although some of them reported 49 percent of the monetary donations that are allocated to their clients. Some posted an allocation of above 95 percent to finance charitable works for needy individuals.

In case of donations in the form of good, it should be allocated entirely for the charity's clients.
